AP (Advanced Placement), one of the strongest admission criteria especially for the US and, in recent years, for universities in the UK/Europe, gives students the opportunity to say, "I am ready for university-level classes". However, AP exams require a depth and pace beyond the high school curriculum. Achieving a perfect score of 5 is not a coincidence, but a matter of methodology.

Deepening in STEM Disciplines

AP Calculus BC, Physics C or Biology… These courses are not at a level that can be passed by memorising formulas alone. College Board expects students to make connections between concepts (Conceptual Understanding). For example, in a Calculus question, it is not enough simply to take the derivative; you are also expected to interpret its meaning in the physical world. At Solitas Academy, we build our lessons on this "connected" logic.

The Art of FRQ (Free Response Questions)

The most decisive part of AP exams is the FRQ, that is, the open-ended questions. You may get lucky with multiple-choice questions, but in the FRQ you must demonstrate academic honesty and present a clear solution path. Markers award points for the logic chain you follow as much as for the correctness of the result. The greatest added value we offer our students is optimising the answers to these questions in a way that "earns points".

University Credit and "Academic Rigor"

High scores on AP exams provide course exemptions at university (credit transfer). This means savings of thousands of dollars and the possibility of graduating earlier. More importantly, however, AP courses on your transcript prove to admissions offices that you are a candidate who does not shy away from challenge (academic rigor).

Why Solitas Academy?

AP preparation is often squeezed into a narrow time frame (May). We spread this process across the whole year and structure the final 2 months solely around Past Papers (Previous Exams) and Exam Technique, thereby minimising the student's stress level. Our aim is not just to pass the exam, but to develop a "future university student" who has mastered the subject.
